Manage your Ad Units with Proximic

Proximic has released our Ad Unit Management feature: now all the settings from your ad units are stored on our servers. That means, each time you want to change the colors, the font, the ad group, or even the new zero risk option for your ad units, you can make the changes directly in your publisher account rather than generating and pasting new code.

Below are the answers to some questions you may have about the ad management feature:

  • What’s different from how I used to create ad units?
You can now customize and update your ad units within your publisher account and see changes applied on-the-fly to your website. This simplifies and speeds up the process of managing your ad units: you only need to paste your ad unit code into your webpage once, and make all the necessary changes from your publisher account, without having to touch your HTML code anymore.

  • How do I create a new ad unit?
In your Publisher Program, go to Manages Ads > Create Ads. The process of creating an ad unit is pretty similar to how you used to do, except that:
- On the last step, you will be prompted to provide a name for the ad unit you’ve just created. You can use a descriptive name such as “Square ad for blog post”, “Homepage Leaderboard”… so it will be easier for you to remember where you pasted this ad unit.
- You need to save your ad unit in order to get your ad unit code. This one includes the name of your ad unit within comment brackets (example: /* my ad unit name */), you can remove this from your HTML code if needed.
  • How do I manage my ad units?
A new sub tab “Manage Ads” is now available where you can list your ad units and apply actions such as: edit, duplicate, get code and hide. This page gives you a snapshot of all your ad units with their settings. If you’re using zero risk, you can also change the minimum eCPM price of you alternate ad directly from this page.

  • Will the old ad code on my websites still work?
Of course! If you have existing ad units you’d like to keep using, you don’t need to go through the entire process of selecting ad settings and colors again. Instead, you can easily upgrade your ad code within your account using our import code option. Just go to the “Manage Ad Units” page and click on the link where it says “Click here to import it into your list of ad units”.
  • Do I have to use the new ad management feature, or can I keep my old ad code?
It’s up to you! We do see a valuable advantage of upgrading your ad units with the new ad management feature but you are welcome to keep your good old habits. Your old ad unit code that you have pasted into your pages in the past will continue to work as before. Note that we no longer provide the option to generate the old version of the ad code.
  • I just created a new ad unit, why is it not showing the colors that I setup?
If you have pasted the code of a newly created ad unit on your site, the ad unit may show the default Proximic style (blue title, grey border…)  for up to 10 minutes while our servers are informed about the specific settings for the new unit.

Same thing if you change the settings of your ad unit once it is already on your website, they may take up to 10 minutes to be visible.

  • How do I change the format of my ad unit?
Unfortunately this is the only setting that you cannot edit after having saved your ad unit. You will need to create a new ad unit with the new format requested and overwrite the code on your page.
  • How do I delete some of the ad units I created?
Right now, we do not allow to delete ad units from within your publisher account. Indeed we want to avoid you to accidentally delete an ad unit that was actually still publishing ads on one of your websites. Instead, you can hide them from your ‘Manage Ads’ page and recover the hidden ad units by clicking on “show hidden”.

We hope to have covered all the questions you may have about this feature. If you happen to have some more, feel free to send them through the “Feedback” tab of your Publisher Program.
